ChromeResetButton Browser Extension — Last updated: February 17, 2026
1. Overview
ChromeResetButton ("the Extension") is a browser extension that restarts Chromium-based browsers with one click while preserving open tabs. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights.
2. Data We Collect
2.1 Anonymous Analytics (Opt-in Only)
If you choose to enable anonymous analytics during the first-use consent screen, we collect:
- Number of browser restarts performed
- Browser type (Chrome, Brave, Edge, etc.)
- Operating system (Windows, macOS, Linux)
- Restart strategy used (technical method)
This data is fully anonymous — no personal identifiers, IP addresses, or browsing history are included. You can disable analytics at any time in the extension's Settings screen.
2.2 Pro Subscription (Optional)
If you sign in for Pro features, we collect:
- Google Account info: name, email address, and profile picture (via Google OAuth 2.0)
- Subscription status: active/inactive, plan type, renewal date
- Settings: your Pro preferences (scheduled restart interval, memory threshold, theme, keyboard shortcut)
Payment processing is handled entirely by Stripe. We never see, store, or have access to your credit card number or payment details.
2.3 Local Storage
The following data is stored locally on your device using chrome.storage.local and never transmitted externally (unless you enable analytics or sign in for Pro):
- Analytics consent preference
- Extension settings (restart schedule, memory threshold, theme, shortcut)
- Restart history (date, browser, method — up to 100 entries)
- Calculated statistics (total restarts, streaks, etc.)
3. Data We Do NOT Collect
- Browsing history or visited URLs
- Page content or DOM data
- Cookies or session tokens from websites
- Keystrokes or form input
- Personal files or downloads
- IP addresses (analytics are anonymous)
- Credit card or payment information (handled by Stripe)
4. How We Use Your Data
- Anonymous analytics: to understand usage patterns and improve the extension
- Google account data: to authenticate you for Pro features and manage your subscription
- Settings sync: to restore your Pro preferences across devices
We do not sell, rent, or share your data with third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.
5. Third-Party Services
- Google OAuth 2.0 — used for sign-in. Google's privacy policy: policies.google.com/privacy
- Stripe — used for payment processing. Stripe's privacy policy: stripe.com/privacy
